COVID-19: Québec City Business Destination and its partners join together to face the crisis affecting the meeting and event industry

Quebec, March 13, 2020 - Québec City Business Destination, the city’s official events bureau, would like to reassure convention clients in the wake of the provincial government’s announcement of a 30-day ban on indoor gatherings of over 250 people, a response to COVID-19.

 “When the going gets tough," said Québec City Business Destination president Pierre-Michel Bouchard, “it’s really important to stick together. In this town, the entire event industry is doing just that in the face of a crisis that affects us all. We think those 30 days are a small price to pay to shorten the duration of the pandemic so we can get back to doing what we do best. Right now we're hard at work making sure that the events that can’t happen now will still get to happen as soon as things are back to normal. But our top priority remains the health of our clients, our visitors, and our staff.”

Planning for the future

The Québec City Business Destination team has been planning post-COVID needs. These range from marketing and communication efforts to relaunch the Québec meeting industry and ensure the health of the economy to the elaboration of a safe meeting standard for all facilities and industry partners. Québec has long-been a safe meeting destination. The objective is to safeguard the health of employees, attendees and meeting planners.

Mental health and industry support

The strategic committee has been conducting regular virtual meetings with Québec industry partners to lend their support and break isolation. Social distancing and the uncertainty of the industry is touching industry partners on professional and personal levels. The committee and its directors have been reaching out to ensure they lend their support however the can.
